Join us again this winter as DNR’s marine mammal team works to study, protect and conserve endangered North Atlantic right whales on their only known calving grounds – off the coast of Georgia, north Florida and the Carolinas. We’ll explain what that work is like, scrambling when whales are spotted, spending hours on the water collecting biopsy samples and drone video, coordinating with conservation partners, encountering animals from leatherback sea turtles to seldom-seen shearwaters, and, best of all, glimpsing one of the world’s most rare large whales and doing all we can to better understand and help save them. It’s happening off our coast. Now. Learn about it here.
